We find no real satisfaction or happiness in life without obstacles to conquer and goals to achieve... It's the same each time with progress. First they ignore you, then they say you're mad, then dangerous, then there's a pause and then you can't find anyone who disagrees with you.

I fully agree. I have found that in life, I have to experience sadness to truly enjoy happiness.

I think sadness is not an obstacle...it is your interpretation of an event that you react to that causes sadness. That reply doesn't make sense for the comment that was posted. I think I would interpret George's comment to relate to the entire "why be in Iraq" question. That in time, being there, doing good works, making progress, etc. will, in the future, not be even questioned.
